Group Size

Min: 1
Max: 8

Hazards

Sharp objects.

Activity Instructions

1. Layer 3 sheets of tissue paper on top of each other.

2. Begin folding the tissue paper into an accordion. Create a 1 inch fold, and then turn the tissue paper stack over for the next 1 inch fold. Continue folding the tissue paper until it is a stacked 1 inch strip.

3. Take scissors and create a rounded edge on both ends of the tissue paper. This will create shape of the flower petals.

4. Use the pipe cleaner to create a loop around the centre of the accordion. Twist the pipe cleaner onto itself to create the stem of the flower.

5. Open up the tissue paper folds and gently separate each sheet of tissue paper.

Voila! A beautiful blossom.

Activity Instruction Adaptations

• The edges of the tissue paper can be cut into a pointed shape to create a different kind of flower.

•  Alternatively, you can cut the pipe cleaner so that the flower does not have a stem. The flowers can then be hung as floating flower decorations! Just use string to hang.
